A Few Gift Ideas For A Male Relative

I don’t know about you but when it comes to buying gifts for the male relatives in my family I struggle – they are so hard to buy for. So hard in fact that they usually get bought a gift card and that is that. This year though I have been trying to put more thought into buying gifts as my girlfriends always get lovely gifts from me and I feel bad that they boys just get a voucher.

If like me you’re struggling here are a few things you could consider buying for your male relatives.

A bag

If he works in the city or needs to travel with a laptop why not treat him to a new stylish bag that is big enough to keep his laptop, tablet and all his essentials in one safe place.

A card holder

A card holder is a practical gift that would be perfect if he has lots of bank cards in his wallet why not treat him to a designated card holder – my husband has all his cards thrown in his wallet and has had to replace them all numerous times as they have snapped due to his wallet not having enough space for them.

Trainers

Footwear is a firm favourite gift in our house especially as all three boys are either a teenager or a preteen – I think they get their love for trainers from their dad. I have one pair that I’ve worn for the last 3 years whilst he has about 5 of which 3 were bought in the last year. Now, this gift may sound like a weird one but honestly, it’s not. My husband, dad and youngest son are all fishermen and although my dad doesn’t go overnight both Matthew and James do and can be away for a few days at a time. It would be a great add on gift for those who love to barbecue, camp or being in the great outdoors where they may need a lighter. It is also great for lighting jar candles.

The simple things

Should you be seriously stuck for ideas but want to treat your significant other you could arrange to have a date night at home, if you have children see if you can get a sitter (if not send them to bed earlier but make it fun – ours used to love a movie night once in a while in their rooms) make his favourite meal, get a nice bottle of wine (perhaps a bottle of Malvira Saglietto Arneis from Independent Wine) or his favourite tipple and dessert. If I was having a meal cooked for me I would love a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings (homemade Yorkshire puddings are a must, followed by Black Forest Gateau or Cherry and Vanilla ice cream), the husband, on the other hand, would probably choose a mixed grill and chocolate brownie with ice cream.
