Five Things To Help Make You Look and Feel Younger

Getting old is something that happens to us all, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. Having said that, you shouldn’t let it take over you either. You can choose to embrace it or let it drag you down. I don’t know about you but I will certainly be choosing the first option when the time comes.

If you are feeling your years (as my Nana used to say) there are a few things you can do to make yourself look and feel younger, these include…

A new haircut

I always feel like a million pounds when I’ve had my colours redone, there’s just something about newly cut, coloured and styled hair – and I can never get it to look the same after – ever. When my Nana was alive she used to visit the hairdressers once a week to have her hair shampooed and set, when she was no longer able to get to the salon her stylist visited her at home. She always liked to look her best and even told me off for taking a photo of her on the day before she was due for her hair to be done. Changing your hair cut or colour can make you look much younger. Go for colours that aren’t too bright or that stand out too much, natural colours work really well at bringing out a person’s natural beauty.

Use skincare products

Using products on a daily basis can help to keep your skin looking young and healthy. Consider an anti-ageing product like Genucel to reduce the ageing of the skin around your eyes. Their products use stem cells to help rejuvenate tired skin reducing the appearance of puffy eyes, black bags and dark circles.

A new wardrobe

Long gone are the days when older people had to stick to wearing M&S specials – again this is something I remember fondly from my Nana – I used to love her big fluffy cardigans and jumpers although the brown cord trousers she used to wear were absolutely hideous. I say wear what you like and keep on doing so for as long as it’s comfortable. I love my jeans, leggings and comfy knitwear and this isn’t going to change whether I’m 36 or 76. I’ve never been the most fashionable of people but I do wear what I want when I want and nothing will ever change that and you should do the same too.

Regular exercise

Regular exercise is good for the body and the mind. Read a book, do the sudoku or crossword in your magazines and newspapers as these will help keep your mind alert. Exercise your body with yoga or short walks, ballroom dancing if you wish as it all helps to keep your joints supple and mobile.

Surgery

Some people go down the route of having surgery to roll back the years. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this even though it is not something I’d consider. Having a non-permanent procedure such as lip fillers in Birmingham or even a little nip and tuck here and there can do wonders to help boost a person’s self-confidence and can take years off a person when done in a positive way.
