What I Listen To Whilst Exercising
I don’t know about you but getting motivated to exercise can be really hard. I know that once I start I actually enjoy my workout but getting started is another story.
I mainly work out at home following exercise programmes such as Couch to 5K, 30 Day Shred and Body Shred by Jillian Michaels. I do like to mix them up and have breaks from time to time too. At the minute I am currently working my way through RingFit Adventure and Fitness Boxing on the Switch. Both are lots of fun and give great workouts. With RingFit Adventure if your friends have the same game you can see how well you are competing against each other which is often a great way to get motivated into exercising too.
Depending on the type of exercise I’m doing I like to listen to something. Although RingFit Adventures and Fitness Boxing doesn’t really allow for me to listen to anything. I do like to have my headphones in when working out and the Couch to 5K even recommends grabbing your headphones before you start.
If you’re starting to work out or a seasoned pro but only just decided to listen to something whilst working out to help pass the time or help you concentrate on your exercise. I think it’s great that technology has come a long way to help us. No longer do you need to have wires getting in the way thanks to wireless headphones and Bluetooth technology and there are a huge number of music streaming services available so you’re bound to find something that takes your fancy.
For me, a go-to playlist is an absolute must. I’ve spoken many times in the past about my taste in music and how amazing it is (well I think it is anyway). Most of the time it is on shuffle as there are just so many songs and I can’t possibly choose my favourites. From Rainbow, Dire Straits, Pink, Roy Orbison and Elvis to Boyzone, Queen, UB40 and Bon Jovi they’re all there and many others too. As the self-proclaimed Queen of music in our house, I have enough music subscriptions to keep me listening for the next 100 years or more.
I’m going to be honest. I am relatively new to the whole podcast listening thing. It was my husband and son who first said that I should give them a try. They’ve both been listening to them for a while now. On their recommendation, I started to look on Spotify and Amazon for things that I have an interest in – I didn’t even know there were so many people creating podcasts or that they were so popular. So far, I’ve been listening to a few comedians that I like and Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby series. I absolutely love documentaries about musicians and music so the next podcasts I want to listen to will be from people in the know. But where to start as there are so many to choose from. One person I want to listen to is Benjy Grinberg. He talks to a lot of different podcast producers about his work in the music industry.
An audio book isn’t my first choice of material to listen to when I’m doing a workout but then again sometimes if I’m in the mood for a yoga workout then listening to my current book is a great way to combine the two.
