How To Enjoy Cosy Winter Nights in the Garden

It’s true that winter is well and truly here but that doesn’t mean that we must stay huddled up indoors. Although I do love to spend the cold evenings inside snuggled on the sofa with a good book and a cuppa, sometimes the evenings drag by and I long to find something fun and exciting to do instead. There are so many things that we could do outdoors in the garden throughout winter too, so long as you wrap up warm you could…

Have a get together with family and friends – With Christmas and New Year’s Eve only a few weeks away, there’s no better time of the year to spend quality time with your loved ones. So why not invite your nearest and dearest around for a party? Why not consider an outdoor party and decorate your garden with lights and a patio heater so that everyone can keep warm?

Get a fire pit – You could make a fire pit in your garden if you have space or buy a chiminea to sit on your patio. It would be perfect for family get-togethers as you could toast marshmallows and enjoy a hot chocolate around your fire. Do be fire aware though and keep young children and pets away from the heat source – they should always be supervised when outside especially when it is cold, wet, frosty or really dark.

Buy a telescope – Winter is the best time to stargaze, as the stars are so much brighter in the colder months. But make sure you wrap up warm before heading outside as it’s often the early hours when looking into the night sky is at its best. If you live in an area that isn’t surrounded by too much artificial light you will be in for a real treat and will get to see many stars on a clear night. If you live in a built-up area it may be harder for you to see the stars but having a telescope either to use in the garden or from a higher point in your home will ensure you get a better view of the night sky. Winter is also the best time of year where you may get to see the Northern Lights but again to get the best view you need to be in an area that isn’t too well lit up in the dark.

Invest in a hot tub – Having a hot tub in your garden would be great for your family and friends’ gatherings. You could spend as much or as little of your time in here. Have a girl’s night in with a bottle or two of your favourite wine, snacks and music (you can get waterproof wireless speakers that would be perfect for this). If you’re thinking of buying a hot tub for your garden take a look at, they have a number of different hot tub spas in stock and lots of gazebos that you might want to look at for any party you may be thinking of hosting over the festive season.

How do you plan to spend your winter evenings?
