What To Watch On Amazon Prime This Half Term

Here are a few of the brilliant films and TV series you will find available on Amazon Prime Video this half term. Recently we were asked to join the Amazon Prime Bloggers Panel and we are really excited about this. Each month we will be sharing with you some of the things we are watching. You will also find some of the books I have been reading over in Reading Corner too.

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory – One of my all time favourite films and books from Roald Dahl’s. The original and the best film version too in my opinion. This film follows the story of Charlie Bucket, a poor little boy, who dreams of buying the chocolate and sweets that other children enjoy. Charlie enters into a magical world when he wins one of five ‘Golden Tickets’ to visit the mysterious chocolate factory owned by the eccentric Willy Wonka and run by his Oompa-Loompas.

The BFG – Another  one of Roald Dahl’s amazing stories that was made into a family film. This is an exciting tale of a young London girl named Sophie and a mysterious Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The BFG was first published in 1982 and has been a firm favourite with readers of all ages ever since. It is one of my favourite childhood books and I can’t wait to have a movie night with the boys soon.

Racing Stripes – Driving home in a storm breeder Nolan finds a zebra on the road. He takes him home where his daughter falls for him. Stripes grow up to be a handsome zebra but he’s mocked by the racehorses next door. Will Stripes get his own back when he enters the Kentucky Open race, ridden by the daughter?

Dino Dana –  A follow-up to the 2015 Emmy award-winning series Dino Dan: Trek’s Adventures, Dino Dana is a preschool program that takes viewers on a whole new level of dinosaur encounters. Combining live-action with CGI animation, the series features 11 new prehistoric creatures and, for the first time, two sisters. After a chance encounter with Trek and his Dino Field Guide, Dana, a “paleontologist in training,” begins to see dinosaurs all around her, leading to plenty of action and adventure. Every episode shares interesting dinosaur facts.

An American Girl Story – Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance –  Set in 1976 San Francisco, Ivy Ling is a second generation Chinese-American who struggles to find balance between her two cultures. Though her parents value family and tradition, Ivy wishes to be like her best friend. When Ivy’s gymnastics meet and Chinese New Year lands on the same night, she has to decide between the two.
