Thinking About My Dream Kitchen Makeover
I’ve mentioned plenty of times in the past at how excited I get when we are lucky enough to update new things in our home and when we finally decorated our hallway and landing and gave our bedroom a new lease of life a couple of years ago.
I’ve also mentioned all the things I want to do in our home in the future including updating our garden. But the one thing I would absolutely love more than this is a new kitchen. I’m spending more and more time in the kitchen and finding it really hard as it’s not really practical for everything we own.
My dream kitchen would include
More room
My kitchen at the minute is an ok size but I would like it to have a better layout. For this to be possible though it would mean a lot of work as I have images in my mind where we would turn our living room diner into a smaller living room and have a kitchen diner instead. I would love to add patio doors in the dining area of the room so that we could open the area and be able to sit in and/or look out into the garden in the summer months.
I would also consider an extension instead which would give us a bigger space in general – obviously still a lot of work but it would be a lot of fun choosing new appliances and kitchen units. I would also make sure we had a utility room and a downstairs toilet as this would mean I had somewhere to put all the items that clutter up my kitchen (the ironing board, washing baskets when doing the washing and the pet food which, surprisingly takes up a lot of space.
More light
As it stands now we are lucky in the summer months as we get plenty of light in our kitchen but in winter it can be very dark. I would consider looking at having Infinity fixed roof lights from TuffX Glass if we were having an extension built as we would need new windows and roof lights would be perfect for letting more light in the room.

Better storage
My house is rubbish for storage. There are no cupboards anywhere and this creates massive problems for hiding away all the useful things we use regularly. I would love to have an island in my kitchen as there is very little storage space or room to move when I am baking and cooking. This can be both annoying and frustrating. I would make sure that the island had room for my cookbooks and shelving to house all my baking trays, dishes and pans.
Are you planning on updating your home soon? If so, I’d love hear about your plans in the comments.
