Choosing The Perfect Hallway Flooring
My Three and Me have some exciting news – We are moving (I really hope I haven’t jinxed it now by saying it out loud).
Now I know we’ve mentioned in the past about not moving for the foreseeable or extending our current home so this is a complete U-turn in our decision making. There is a good reason for this, you see the house I have been dreaming about for the last three years is in our grasp so we would be silly not to take it – and let’s face it we can do everything we planned here in a few years there instead. It’s not ideal timing with the eldest moving into his final year of his GCSE’s but it means we are back over on the coast and closer to my parents which will be absolutely amazing for both the boys and myself.
The only downside to moving to this potential new house is that it will need decorating top to bottom as the decor already in place isn’t to our tastes – this is something that we are prepared to do overtime to make it perfect for us. To be honest though when the majority of people move to a new home the first thing they do is decorate anyway don’t they so it’s really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
The first place to decorate will be the hallway as that is the place where everyone will see the minute they walk through the door. I can’t wait to choose new wallpaper, paint and flooring as at present there isn’t a floor covering at all and in winter on the coast, this might mean a cold house.
As there is no flooring down at all we might decide to go for solid wood flooring and carpet the stairs and landing separately or perhaps it would be better to buy a carpet that would run the whole hallway, stairs and landing.
The advantages of fitting a wooden flooring would probably outweigh the cons at the minute especially as we have a senior dog in the house who is starting to show her age (she is 12 and a bit years old). Her bed will be in the hallway just as it is here at the minute and she will be able to roam around (or not) the downstairs freely – she has slowed down a lot over the last few months and loves nothing more than being tucked up in her bed near a radiator.
So here’s to our new start, in a new home in hopefully a few weeks time. I’m sure once everything is 100% official I will be shouting it from the rooftops and documenting all the decorating that we will be doing. Until then I will be keeping everything firmly crossed that it all goes to plan.
