Your child’s favourite cartoon characters who have topped the charts at Christmas

There are thousands of Christmas songs, hymns and rhymes that have got the nation feeling festive for many years now. In fact, records of carols date back further than Christmas celebrations themselves, before being taken on by early Christians, and the tradition of singing and dancing at Christmas was born. Popular nursery chain Kiddi Caru has put together a list of some Christmas songs for preschoolers, so you and your little one can not only learn actions whilst singing the festive tunes, but now they can enjoy seeing their favourite characters get festive too.

In the modern day, hymns are sung in churches, and Christmas songs are sung from door to door as a way to pass on the festive cheer. Of course, not all Christmas songs are religious, with many of them designed to ignite the magic in the hearts of children and adults alike, not to mention cameos from our favourite cartoon characters, with some even topping the December charts!

Disney’s Frozen – Do you want to build a snowman?

Of course, we were never going to be able to talk about Christmas songs and not mention the absolute hit Disney musical Frozen. Despite not officially having a Christmas theme, the movie features the magical ice powers of Elsa, and the adventures of her sister Anna, whilst often being shown on television over the festive period.

There’s no doubt you’ve heard the song Let it go for years now, but the original movie opens up the castle doors with a Christmas classic your children are bound to enjoy:

“Do you want to build a snowman?”

What’s more – there’s a sequel! Frozen 2 also features some hits that your child will no doubt enjoy during the festive period, such as Reindeer are better than people, Into the unknown and Show yourself.

Santa Shark – Baby Shark Christmas

For those that still have the viral Baby Shark stuck in their heads, here’s a festive take featuring the beloved Finny the shark. The song goes through all different festive characters and stages, with Finny singing about a Santa shark, his reindeer and elf sharks, how they make toys and wrap them up, to then loading the sleigh and swimming away to deliver the presents – just like Santa! All this, in a fun animation for you and your little one to sing and dance to!

Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year – Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

You can listen to Brenda Lee’s version of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree alongside the adventures and Christmas chatter of Winnie the Pooh and friends in the much-loved film Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year. During the song, you can see Pooh bear finding the perfect tree, taking it home and placing it in a beloved honey pot. The magic of Christmas really comes alive when all of his friends come together to decorate the tree. Not only does the song narrate the clip, but your child can sing and dance along to the classic, with the help of the timeless teddies.

And that’s not all! If your child is a big Disney fan, then there’s even more of their favourite cartoons, featuring in many Christmas songs, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse! In fact, there’s a whole list of Disney sing-along songs, with many beloved characters singing, dancing and making appearances during the classic tunes.
