Ways To Upgrade Your Patio

Is your patio area looking tired and in need of a little TLC? If so, don’t panic, there are lots of things you can do to upgrade it. You don’t have to spend a fortune but with a little time and effort, it will soon be the perfect place for relaxing outside. You could try one or more of the following…

Add new or change your paving

Paving can make all the difference to how your patio looks. If your paving is looking tired you could try to make it look new again. A good jet washing will remove any dirt or moss and bring the stones up good as new. If you are planning to replace the paving keep in mind how you want it to look but bear in mind that the colour and style of the paving should be in keeping with your house and your garden. Concrete paving slabs might be cheaper to purchase, but don’t look as good as a quality Indian Stone or unique handmade slabs.

Buy new furniture

When it comes to garden furniture, as the saying goes – you get what you pay for. It’s best to buy something that is higher quality so that it will last. There are a couple of things to consider before you purchase including its location in the garden, where will it be stored, the materials it will be made from and will it need to be assembled once you get it home. It’s likely that your furniture may be caught out in the rain sometimes and so making sure it is or can be protected from the elements is important. For smaller gardens and patios, folding furniture might be the best option as it can be put away when not in use, giving you more space. However, if you’d rather not have the hassle of moving or putting your furniture away why not consider 2 seater garden furniture or a 2 seater garden table. That way it won’t take up too much space and you’ll have somewhere to sit and enjoy your patio. You could also add a sun lounger towards the side of the garden where you get the best sunlight.  

Plant new flowers

I admit my garden at the current time has no plants or flowers, well I have a planter that has some tulip bulbs in and they will flower in the next few months but other than those I only have two lawns. In the future, I will change this and incorporate new flower beds but for the time being, I like my garden being low maintenance. If you have a small garden and your patio takes up most of the space you could add a couple of small planters that will flower in the summer and make your patio look beautiful once they’re in bloom. Small planters need little maintenance so you can spend more time enjoying your space rather than cleaning it up.

If you have a large garden with more than one patio space you could use them for different things. Perhaps add a pergola and garden lights with a patio heater for chilled out nights even when the weather is cooler. If that doesn’t take your fancy you could have an outdoor kitchen area where you could make pizza, and then wine and dine with your friends and family with your culinary delights.
