Tea Time at Frankie & Bennys

To finish off Callum’s birthday day out we said we would treat him to a nice meal after bowling. As we had been sent a £50 voucher to try the New Menu at Frankie and Benny’s we said we would take him there. We went to our local Restaurant which is Frankie & Benny’s at Xscape, Glasshoughton. Matthew works in the same complex as a security guard and always says how good the breakfast menu is and how much he enjoys them when he eats there so I decided it was definitely time I went to taste some of the food for myself.

When we arrived we were greeted and shown to our table. We had booked a table for 6 of us for 6 pm as Matthew said it was a busy place within the complex, he wasn’t wrong as every table was filled. The boys were each given a “Hobbies Juniors Fun Pack” to keep them entertained, within the pack was a puzzle book, a puzzle and a pencil.

There are 2 Children’s Menu’s to choose from. One for Kids which was for small children. This costs £3.95 and you get a choice of meals, a drink and a dessert. There is also a Juniors Menu for hungrier children which costs £7.55 and also includes a drink and a dessert. We chose 3 kids menus as the boys don’t have huge appetites.  Callum and Nathan asked for the Hamburger meal and James asked for chicken so we ordered him the Chicken Strips meal. All 3 meals came with fries.

The restaurant was extremely busy so we were waiting a little while between our main courses and desserts. However, we didn’t mind the wait as the boys enjoyed using their activity packs. Both Kimberley and Matthew said that their desserts were worth waiting for. As it was Callum’s birthday as his Brownie Sundae was brought out to him the lights were dimmed and happy birthday was played. There was also a candle in his ice cream. He loved this and said he made a wish whilst blowing out the candle.

Both Nathan and James had an Ice Cream Sundae each, they loved it (show me a child that doesn’t like ice cream).

Overall we were happy with our meal, the food did take a little while to arrive but this is to be expected when the restaurant is so full. The children were kept entertained with their activity packs, so it wasn’t really a problem for us. had they not had them then I do feel they would of played up whilst waiting. We would certainly go again and are intending to do so in a couple of weeks time when we have friends over for the day.
