Simple Ways To Make Your House A Home
When you first move into a new home it’s a time of new beginnings. you might find that it is decorated to the previous owner’s tastes or perhaps it has been whitewashed ready for you to put your own mark on the place.
Whichever way it is still a blank canvas and a great time to make your new house feel like a cosy home. Moving is a stressful time so you might not have the free time or budget available to make all the changes you want. The more expensive renovations can be done at a later date but to start with there is no harm in adding your own personal touch. You could:
Decorate
Every home looks better once freshly decorated so why not add your own touch throughout. Paint is relatively cheap and you can paint a whole house on a relatively low budget. You might like the decor as it is and just freshen up some of the rooms or even just the woodwork.
Change the flooring
If you are planning to change the current flooring it makes sense to do it whilst the house is empty if possible. You might decide to carpet throughout or have a variety of flooring types throughout your home. Perhaps you might decide to fit carpet in your bedroom, stairs and landing and have a wood flooring throughout the ground level of your home. You might decide that vinyl flooring is a better flooring in areas that are likely to be wet such as the bathroom and kitchen (especially if you have pets and young children).
Add personal touches
It’s amazing what adding your own personal items does to a house. As soon as is possible unpack your items so that you can make the house feel like your own as quickly as possible. Having your personal pictures, furniture and accessories out on display will make you settle in quicker.
