Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Mother’s Day is only a few days away but just like last year, we are unable to visit our mums so this might have an influence as to the type of gift you buy her. If you’re still stuck on a gift idea for your mum here are a few things you could consider and even though you can’t see her they can all be posted to her and she will know just how much you care.
Flowers
Why not have your mum’s favourite flowers delivered to her? I absolutely love tulips and was bought some bulbs a few years ago. They’re planted in the garden and bloom every year. If you live a distance away you could see if any florists in her local area are open for business if not you could opt for a nationwide company such as Interflora or Moonpig to ensure that she receives her delivery on time.
Virtual Wine Tasting
Although we might not be able to meet in person or attend any events you could still treat your mum to a special night this Mother’s Day with a ticket to one of Independent Wine’s online tasting events. Tickets cost £99 per household for more information visit Independent Wine’s website.
Independent Wine is one of the UK’s leading specialists in boutique Italian wine so they know what people like and have geared their event wine lovers who already know a little and want to learn more. Each tasting pack includes three full-size (750ml) bottles of award-winning wine from Italy, rather than small sample-size bottles. As well as three premium-quality bottles of wine, the ticket also includes access to a private Zoom call. Lasting for a minimum of one hour, each session is built around a guided tasting. Guests are encouraged to sip along and discuss the nuances of the wine. During the event, the expert host – who has qualifications from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) – will give an in-depth discussion about the wine region and grapes.
Independent Wine has a number of online tasting events planned over the coming months. Each one will focus on a different region, grape or style of wine so there’s always something new to learn about. The first two sessions are taking place just before Mother’s Day weekend – the 11th and 12th March 2021 – and will focus on red wines from Northern Italy. The first session will focus on Pinot Noir from the Dolomite Alps and the second one will be dedicated to the noble Nebbiolo wines of Piedmont.
Chocolates
Who doesn’t love a box of chocolates? If you have the time and equipment you could even make your own chocolates or sweets for your mum. Although it is a little time consuming and quite messy a homemade gift would be well received especially if they were sent to nana/grandma from their grandchildren – my nana always loved the homemade cards and gifts the best. You could even bake your mum her favourite cake if she isn’t a huge fan of sweets and chocolate.
Jewellery
If you’re wanting to push the boat out that little bit this year you could always treat your mum to a piece of jewellery, perhaps a locket, bracelet or a pair of earrings. If she has a charm bracelet you could buy her a new charm. I don’t have one myself but it is something that I would like in the future.
Hamper
You could treat your mum to a hamper of all her favourite things, a bottle of wine, a bottle of gin, sweets, chocolates, smellies, perfume, a book, flowers and jewellery. If you’re unable to collate all the items yourself there are plenty of companies that have beautiful hampers available.
What are you planning to buy your mum this year?
