The year "2020" is written in glowing golden sparkler light against a black background, capturing a festive atmosphere that says Hello 2020 and Goodbye 2019.

Goodbye 2019 and Hello 2020

As always I start the last post of the year thanking all of our wonderful family, friends, readers and followers without you we wouldn’t still be here 8 and a half years later. To the brands and companies who work with us, we thank you for all the lovely opportunities you send our way. We appreciate every single one and hope that 2020 brings bigger and better things our way.

Well, 2019 what can I say about you? You tried us, you tested us and yet you brought us the most perfect day ever.

We started 2019 apart as Matthew was admitted to hospital on New Year’s Eve with suspected sepsis after a kidney stone had lodged itself and had caused a serious infection. We didn’t know if he would need a kidney removing due to any damage caused luckily the infection was caught and drained away and he has suffered no long term damage.

Add in a change of jobs and a car right off in April our year was pretty fraught luckily we had booked tickets to see both Mark Knopfler and Pink who we both wanted to see live and our trip to New York to give us something positive to focus on.

July saw us travel to New York and finally tie the knot. We did so in a very small ceremony in the City Clerks Office with Matthew’s brother and partner getting married straight after us too. It was a magical day and one I will never forget. It was perfect for us.

Three hands with wedding rings rest atop a bouquet of red roses, capturing a heartfelt moment. As one wears a grey suit, the image seems to whisper, “Goodbye 2019, Hello 2020,” marking the start of a beautiful new chapter.

We spent the whole week exploring and I got to tick visiting Top of The Rock off of my bucket list. We visited Central Park, Wall Street, Battery Park, Central Park Zoo, the Flat Iron Building, ate the best pizza ever in Soho and saw the Friends apartment building and Ghostbusters HQ to mention just a few of the things we did. Honestly, there was so much to see and do we hardly covered anything even with walking 75 miles in a week. We are already planning to go back for our 5th wedding anniversary and my 40th birthday year – maybe before if we can afford it. But we will be visiting at Christmas so I can see my new favourite city at my most favourite time of year.

A cityscape view of tall skyscrapers in the foreground with Central Park and more buildings stretching into the distance under a partly cloudy sky welcomes Hello 2020 and bids Goodbye 2019.

The rest of the year has moved at a lovely pace and I’m glad to say it hasn’t thrown any more drama our way. We just hope that 2020 is taking notes and follows suit…

2020 I raise a glass to you and hope that you serve us well – all I ask as always is that my family and I stay well – together we can overcome anything. I’m looking forward to starting the year and seeing everything you have to throw our way. Let’s make it the best year yet…
