Getting Your Garden Ready For a BBQ

Finally! The long-awaited British summer is here in full swing. Its time to dig out the BBQ and dust off the garden furniture because the season of alfresco dining and impromptu garden parties is upon us. To make sure your garden is ready to impress your nearest and dearest this summer, have a look at our top tips to get BBQ ready in no time.

Sit back and Relax

Create a space yourself and your loved ones can sit and enjoy some family time. It could be time to invest in some new garden furniture or simply give your old furniture a good clean and some TLC. Adding plush furnishings such as cushions to your outdoor seating is a great way to add your own unique twist to your garden whilst creating a cosy spot to relax, just remember to bring them inside in the event of an unexpected summer shower. You may also like to add some citronella candles to the centre of your outdoor table to add a little atmosphere whilst keeping pesky midges and mosquitos at bay.

A lick of Paint

Have the long months of wintery weather left your decking and fence panels looking a little dingey? Show them some love by grabbing a paintbrush to bring them back to life with a fresh coat of wood protecting paint. You’ll be surprised at what a difference a fresh coat of paint can make in brightening up your entire garden.

Light it Up

Installing outdoor lighting is a great way to create some ambience in your garden. Outdoor fairy lights strung around haphazardly are a simple way to create a quirky, whimsical effect without breaking the bank. Make sure your outdoor seating area is well lit by adding lights and candles, as this will allow you to sit out and enjoy those balmy summer evenings way after the sun has set.

Get green fingers

A little maintenance goes a long way in taking your garden from wild to welcoming. If you have a lawn then mow it regularly throughout the summer to keep it looking fresh. Remember to keep on top of overgrown weeds and anything sprouting through the cracks in your paving stones. Consider bringing a little colour to your garden by adding plants and vegetation. Hanging baskets and potted plants are a great way to add a splash of colour and bring a little life to paved areas.

Something for the kids

A summer garden party is fantastic fun for all the family but remember its important to keep the kids entertained and well away from the hot BBQ. An area out of the way with lawn games and activities such as boules or giant Jenga will keep your little ones occupied and you may even find the adults wanting to get involved with the fun too! If you have the space, a playhouse tucked into the corner of the garden would be a great addition and is bound to provide hours of fun for the kids this summer.
