Are you on the lookout for your next family holiday destination? Spain is a wonderful country to travel to with children as it is jam packed with exciting things for holiday makers to see and do. From Tenerife’s Siam Park to Barcelona’s quirky and colourful architecture, Spain has something for everyone – and let’s not forget about the warm weather, tasty food, and stunning sandy beaches.
If a Spanish holiday sounds like something your family would love, then keep reading! I’ve put together this list of some of the best places to visit when staying in Spain with children. For some of my favourite family friendly holiday destinations in Spain, check out the following places.
Ibiza
When someone mentions Ibiza to you, it’s likely your mind will immediately jump to images of parties and clubs. Although there’s certainly a lively party scene in Ibiza, there’s so much more to this city that many people simply do not know about. Together with a collection of family friendly attractions, and wide open spaces for children to run around and play freely in, Ibiza is actually an incredible Spanish holiday destination for families.
There are plenty of marine-related activities to get stuck into, long promenades for walking, hiking trails, water parks, and lovely child-friendly beaches for families to enjoy together. When it comes to accommodation, there’s no shortage of options either. From booking out a private villa or condo for your family to enjoy alone, to staying in one of the many popular hotels that cater to you and your children’s needs by supplying children’s programs and clubs, there’s something for everyone.
Barcelona
Just like Ibiza, Barcelona has so much to offer families that many people don’t know about! Firstly, Barcelona caters for those with varying budgets, which means you’ll find free activities here as well as some more costly experience activities to partake in. On the cheaper side, you’ll find places to visit such as Gaudi’s Park Guell and Casa Batllo. This is an iconic park featuring awe-inspiring colourful architecture, so it’s definitely worth a visit. Alternatively, for marine lovers, Barcelona’s aquarium is home to the largest underwater walkway in Europe.
If you’re feeling more flush, you could book yourself and your family onto a 360° Skywalk. This luxury experience includes a boat ride around the coast, a walking tour, and a helicopter ride!
When it comes to family safe beaches, Olympic Village beach will be your new go-to hang out destination. With plenty of sand for building castles and even an on-site playground, this beach is a huge hit with the kids.
Tenerife, Canary Islands
Tenerife is one of the Spanish islands that are collectively known as the Canary Islands. When it comes to creating an amazing family adventure, this Spanish holiday destination is home to a very exciting attraction that draws people in from all over the world: Siam Park.
Siam Park is known for its adrenaline pumping rides, including the infamous Tower Of Power vertical plunge! The park isn’t all about adrenaline pumping thrill rides though, you can also kick back and relax on the 1,500 foot wide sandy beach or experience the biggest man-made wave in the world.
There are plenty of other exciting adventures awaiting families who choose to stay in Tenerife too. If you’re planning a trip, don’t forget to book yourself onto a dolphin and whale spotting boat tour, visit some of Tenerife’s black sand beaches, and enjoy the zoos and animal parks that are dotted across the island.
There are plenty of other amazing Spanish holiday destinations for families.
I’ve only listed 3 of my favourite Spanish holiday destinations that are great for families, however, there are plenty of other wonderful areas to visit as well.
