Why Is Tracking Children’s Progress Important
As parents, tracking your child’s progress at the early stages of learning is essential. It provides a picture of the child’s progress and identifies areas that need extra support. It is not pleasing for one to compare the progress of a young one to that of the other; however, tracking progress data is crucial for many reasons.
How to Track the Progress
Having raw data on a child’s progress is not enough to determine the kind of development or know if anything is wrong. Analysis of this data is the most crucial thing for parents and guardians. The analysis provides additional information that stirs thinking to identify and solve developmental issues in a particular child.
Multiple tools are used in tracking patterns and trends in the development of children. One of them is EYFS tracking. It is a curriculum tool that contains assessment criteria that are tailored as per different ages of children. Progress tracking through EYFS can start from pregnancy to the age of 5 years.
It checks the child’s development in three main areas: emotional, social, and personal development; physical development; language and communication development.
The Concerned Parties
Whether the birth parent or a guardian, the caregiver is supposed to get the information concerning their child’s development. The information entails the above three areas and is provided by their practitioners when they are between the ages of 2 and 3.
EYFS tracking comprises a series of assessments that aim to identify a child’s development and record the key areas that are recommendable and those that require more attention. At the age of 5 years, the assessment commences with a comprehensive examination to conclude the overall child’s development.
Reasons for Tracking Childs Progress
Spotting the Developmental Trends and Patterns
Some trends and patterns should occur during the development of children that show normality. When these trends do not occur as expected, then there is a need for action. Tracking the progress of a child is crucial to identify any gaps in the learning process.
The gaps that occur in the learning are then filled up. It then leads to the formulation of better learning and teaching methods within the learning facility to help children reach their full potential in life.
Understanding the Problem Area
When the gaps occur in a child’s growth patterns, they represent something in terms of problems. They can help identify the problem area according to how they appear. If the gaps occur in an individual child, it deals with that particular case. However, if the gaps are prevalent in the whole group of children in that learning facility, the setting has a problem.
Creation of a Joint Help
Analysis of the child’s progress data involves multiple parties; the caregiver, a parent or guardian, and the teacher. When the results come out, these parties are involved in joint support for a particular child. This support provides practical learning and development both at home and in the setting.
In conclusion, it is right to say that tracking a child’s progress is very crucial. It helps in the early identification of special needs in education to call for the right action.
