Ways To Update Your Tired Looking Kitchen

Have you been thinking about giving your kitchen an update? If so, do you have ideas in mind or are you still deciding on the finer details? If you’re the latter or just deciding that this is something you want to do in the future I have a few things that you could consider when the time is right.

Brighten the walls

The easiest way to give your kitchen a new lease of life is to give the walls and woodwork a lick of paint. If your room is small or in a place where little sunlight comes in through the windows go for a light colour. This will make the room look and feel lighter and a light colour will make it the room look bigger than it is.

Change your kitchen units

If your kitchen units have seen better days sometimes the only way to update your kitchen is to go big and get a new one. That being said buying a whole new kitchen is expensive and quite often there is nothing wrong with the original cupboards. You can update your kitchen easily and save money by replacing doors. You could even keep the originals and give them a new lease of life even by painting or covering them with a wrap. You could give your cupboards a new look by adding different handles too.

Update your worktops

Another way to update your kitchen is to change your worktops. Over time and with lots of use they can become dull, scratched and look worn. If you are looking for an affordable worktop you could consider changing your current style to one of the many laminate worktops that are available. If this style isn’t to your choosing perhaps take a look at quartz worktops instead. Adding a new worktop will make your units look new and updated and I’m sure will be a great talking point when you have friends visit.

Change your flooring

One way to give your kitchen some much-needed love is to change your flooring. Lino and laminate flooring can be easily replaced and if you’re short of money or need the job done quickly you can easily do it yourself. If previously you had a light coloured flooring you could opt for a darker shade or vice versa if you previously had dark flooring go for a lighter colour or pattern.

Add new furniture

If you’ve space in your kitchen why not add a table or breakfast bar. This will give you extra space for family time, a place to work, bake and eat. Similarly, if you don’t have a lot of space but have furniture in your kitchen that you aren’t using you could sell it or donate it and put the money towards something in your kitchen.

If you’ve recently updated your kitchen or have plans to do so in the future, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
