The Coronation Street Tour

This weekend I enjoyed a very rare night away with a friend. We stayed in Manchester and visited the Coronation Street tour. I am a huge fan of all the soaps but when I heard that Coronation Street were opening up their old studio up for the public to have a look round my friend and I said that we had to go.

Until the end of August you can visit the tour until a later time on an evening. Our tour was booked for 8.50 pm (Saturdays only). The guided tour lasted around an hour. We saw a variety of sets old and new and we were able to get up close and personal to items of clothing from wardrobe and props from well loved characters. I think the highlights of the tour for me were seeing Kirk and Beth’s wedding outfits, seeing inside Underworld, having my photo taken in the Rovers Return – Everyone who visits has the chance to have their photo taken in the pub and purchase it from the gift shop and last but not least being able to walk around the street.

Iconic Character Props

Duckworth / Dobb’s Set

Although we weren’t allowed to take any photographs inside the studio we could take as many as we wanted when we were on the street. We were encouraged to stay as long as we liked to ensure we got the best experience possible. We could walk around the whole street and you can even take a look down the back alley behind the houses – we could peek onto the back gardens belonging to the streets residents – it was pretty amazing.

I haven’t told you much about the things we were told whilst on the tour as I think it’s best for people to find that out for themselves but if you’re a Corrie fan and planning a visit to the tour I promise you will not be disappointed – even those who aren’t massive fans seemed to enjoy their time on the tour at the weekend. The tour is due to close this December so make sure you book soon to avoid missing out altogether.
