Technokit Rivetz Pterodactyl Set
As previously mentioned this week is Science and Engineering Week (14 – 23rd March). We were sent 3 science/engineering orientated products to review. The third one Callum decided to review was the Technokit Rivetz Pterodactyl set from Interplay. This set has everything you need to make your very own Pterodactyl.
Inside the box you will find:
- 1 x Rivetz Gun
- 40 x Rivetz Rivets
- 40 x Rivetz Rivet Centres
- 30 x Printed card pieces
- 1 x Instruction manual
To assemble the Pterodactyl you need to fold and fix together the pre-cut / pre-printed card shapes. The shapes are easy to press out but you need to be careful not to tear them. You then need to carefully follow the instruction manual to see how each piece fits together. The instructions are clearly set out and each piece is clearly labeled.
The plastic rivets are easy to insert using the rivet gun provide, but if you need to remove them it is easy to do so you don’t have to worry too much if you make a mistake. You just take them out and start again. Sometimes it is easier to get someone to hold the pieces in place whilst you put the rivets in too.
The model took Callum and me about 2 and a half to complete. In places, it was quite fiddly to do but we managed. We were very impressed with the finished result.
This kit is recommended for children aged 8 years and over. Callum did struggle with a few of the more fiddly bits of the model so I helped him out a little bit, I would say for children who are 8 or slightly older do expect to be needed from time to time as it can be quite fiddly. But on the plus side, this was an activity that we got to spend time together doing. Once your Pterodactyl is completed you can hang it using the hanging loop on its back. It would look great in any boys bedroom.
