Salter Chocolate Easter Nest Challenge

Recently we were asked to take part in the Salter Chocolate Easter Nest challenge. We were sent 3 Salter products to help us – Salter GEO Electronic Scale, Heston Blumenthal Precision Multipurpose Spatulas by Salter and a Salter Contour Electronic Timer.

A boxed Salter digital kitchen scale, a red Heston Blumenthal multipurpose spatula in packaging, and a Salter electronic timer displaying 99:59 on a kitchen worktop—perfect for your next Salter Challenge or making an Easter dessert.
Ingredients:
Firstly we weighed out the required ingredients using the Salter GEO Electronic Scale.
A blue bowl filled with pieces of milk chocolate, perfect for the Chocolate Easter Nest Challenge, sits on a digital kitchen scale reading 224 grams. The scale rests on a speckled worktop.
  •  225g/8oz plain chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 50g/2oz butter
  • 75g/3oz cornflakes – you can change these for other cereals (we used rice crispies)
  • 36 mini chocolate eggs

Method:

  • Line a 12-hole fairy cake tin with paper cases
  • Melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water. Do not let the base of the bowl touch the water.
  • Stir the mixture until smooth with a Heston Blumenthal Precision Multipurpose Spatulas by Salter. As they are made from Silicon so they won’t crush the cereals. They are also able to withstand heat up to 240c so they won’t melt when exposed to heat.

  • Remove the bowl from the heat and gently stir in the cereals until they are all coated in the chocolate. Use a Heston Blumenthal Precision  Multipurpose Spatula for this.

  • Divide the mixture between the paper cases and press  2 or 3 chocolate eggs into the centre of each nest.
  • Chill in the fridge for 1 hour, or until completely set. We timed this using the Salter Contour  Electronic Timer to ensure they were properly set.
