Pokemon X and Y Range of Toys

As some of you may be aware the boys are official Tomy Ambassadors. Their ambassador duties include reviewing toys that they are sent each month.  Recently they were sent a number of toys from the new Pokemon X and Y range to review. They are huge fans of Pokemon so they were pleased when they saw this lovely lot of toys from Tomy.

One of the toys that they received was the Pokemon Battle Arena. It is priced around £55 and is suitable for children aged 4 years old and over. The battle arena has two modes of play. You can play as a single player or multi player game either against the computer or against a friend. It is easy to switch between these two modes of play as it is just a matter or pressing two small buttons. The arena comes with two figures so you are ready to play straightaway. If you have lots of Pokemon figures then you can have a full battle and you continue playing until you defeat all your opponents Pokemon. If however you only have one each then you can choose the quick play mode which is just a one round battle.Once you select a Pokemon figure, watch as the battle attacks illuminate the full color LED display and the sounds bring the epic battle to life. Your knowledge of the Pokemon combined with your timely attacks and defenses will determine who wins the battle.
What I like about this toy is that there is no assembly required, it is fastened in the box rather securely but even this didn’t take too long to sort out. The toy also requires 4 x AA batteries to work but these are included so once it is out of the box you can play straight away.

The arena comes with two Pokemon characters included, but you can use other characters that are available to buy separately. We were also sent a variety of these characters to use with the battle arena. The characters can be purchased in sets of two and are priced at £6.99 per pack.
Along with these toys the boys were sent two Poke Ball toys. One is a Clip ‘n’ Carry Poke Ball and the other is a Catch ‘n’ Return Poke Ball set. Each Poke Ball set contains a 2” Pokemon figure and Pokédex ID Tag. If you have the Clip ‘n’ Carry Poke Ball you can clip the Poke Ball on to your jeans or belt This makes it easy to access and take with you. The ball pops open with the push of a button and can hold one Pokémon figure inside. You can also use these figures with your battle arena  too.
The Catch ‘n’ Return Poke Ball allows you to catch Pokemon like a Pokemon Trainer. You simply place a Pokemon figure on the stand, pull back the Poke Ball, aim, and release. If you successfully catch the figure the Poke Ball will come back to you. As with the figures from the other Poke Balls these figures can be used with the battle arena too. Each set is priced at £12.99.
The boys were also sent an Articulated Xemeas Vinyl Figure. If you are familiar with Pokemon then you will know that Xemeas is a figure from the Pokemon X and Pokemon Y video games. This is one of two figures available. They are both priced at £14.99. The figure has lovely bright colours and movable limbs.
Within the Pokemon X and Y range there are some soft toys available. James loves Pikachu and claimed this lovable toy as his own. He is 8″ tall and priced at £9.99.
