Meccano 5 in 1 Motorcycle Set Review
A little while ago we were asked to review a Meccano set. It’s not something any of the boys have ever played with, but I do remember my older brother loving his sets when we were younger. When I told the boys that the set had arrived Nathan jumped at the chance to be the one to help review it. He loves Lego and can always be found making lots of things out of his big box of bricks.
Inside the box, you will find everything you need to make 5 different motorcycle models including:
- 175 pieces
- Two tools
- Instruction booklet
The Meccano 5 in 1 Motorcycle set is suitable for children aged 8 and over. It has lots of small fiddly pieces, I gave up trying to get things in the right place and gave Daddy a shout to come and help Nathan finish his model off although Nathan was pretty good on his own for the most part.
I would recommend that adults supervise children who aren’t familiar with Meccano. The instructions were easy to follow and although there were many different sized pieces because the instructions had a true to scale diagram it was fairly easy to find the parts you needed.
Once your model is complete, you can either display it or take it apart and build one of the other models – the choice is yours.
Nathan enjoyed making his model, it was a little fiddly in places but that’s where I (and then Daddy) came in to help him. It is the first time he has built anything out of Meccano and although it did take him a while he stuck at it until the end. It would seem that it’s still just as popular all these years later.
