I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a pet, both Matthew and I grew up with pets so it was quite obvious that when we moved in together we’d end up with at least one of our own too. We always said that when the time was right we’d love a dog, so when Callum was 3 and Nathan 6 months old we visited a litter of Boxer puppies nearby and brought Pepper to live with us. That was almost 10 years ago now and she really is the old lady of the family but don’t be fooled by her grey covered face she can still chase the boys and Ziggy around in the garden and loves nothing better than a game of fetch.
If you are a regular reader/follower of My Three and Me you will know that we often mention them. If you follow us on Instagram you will see lots of pictures of Reggie, Marley, Ziggy and Pepper and even the fish tank has made at least one image over there too. Our pets are a huge part of the family and we would be lost without them. There have been times when they’ve made us laugh and cry (imagine a boxer puppy managing to pull a full bin over and a mop bucket of water in the process) but the good times definitely outweigh the bad.
Recently we were invited by Petplan to put our artistic skills to the test by drawing our dream pet. I set James to the task as he is by far the most artistic out of us all. This is what he drew and the finished result.
He told me that it is a fish with legs. When asked why he decided to draw this pet he said because he loves fishing and he loves our kitten Reggie and would love a pet that was a mixture of a cat and a fish. When asked if he had created a catfish he said “no silly they already exist” – there’s no fooling him is there? His dream pet drawing was transformed into a soft toy thanks to Petplan and he absolutely loves the finished product. As you can see it looks exactly as James had drawn. It is lovely and exactly as he had pictured it and what’s more is that it’s his keep and treasure forever.
If you have pets it’s so important to make sure that you have them insured. You never know what is around the corner and it would be heartbreaking if the worst should happen and you don’t have the money to foot the bill.
