When school is out and your kids are looking for fun things to do, it can be difficult to come up with new and exciting activities that keep them away from gadgets. Whether your children love to draw and embrace their creative side, enjoy sports and outdoor activities, or like learning new things, there are some activities to keep your them busy after school.
Most kids love getting creative and crafty, whether with glitter and glue or through drawing apps on their tablets. But have you considered mixing crafts with food? Make a fun activity and satisfy their after-school hunger by making edible art. While you could make animal cupcakes, opt for healthy edible art and make caterpillars from strawberries and grapes, or crabs from apples.
Homemade Play Dough
Every kid loves play dough, but after a few uses, the colours often get mixed up. While you could buy more, play dough can be expensive. Instead, get your children involved and make homemade play dough. All you need is flour, salt, water, food colouring and vegetable oil.
Slime has been a huge craze with kids and can keep them entertained for hours. Slime can be made at home in just a few minutes and the kids will love getting their hands dirty while making it. There are loads of different ways to make slime and it only needs a handful of ingredients.
Build a Blanket Fort
This is a timeless and much-loved activity that will not only keep your children happy but costs nothing to make. Get your kids to bring their blankets and cushions and spend some time putting up a fort. Add fairy lights, snacks and toys to create a space they will love.
When children have been sat in a classroom all day, you may want to help them get some fresh air. There are loads of fun outdoor activities that they are sure to love. You could design a scavenger hunt or obstacle course, make them their own little garden, or invest in roller blades or a skateboard to help them love spending time outside.
Help a Charity
It is important that kids learn to be compassionate and help others, so why not create fun afterschool charity activities for your children? You could make cakes for a bake sale or start a competition to see who can give the most things to charity.
Hopefully, these ideas will help you to keep your little ones entertained after school. Let me know which one works best for you!
