Pooch & Mutt Dog Treats

Our dogs love their treats just as much as the boys love their sweets. But like the boys they’re only allowed them in moderation. I think it’s important for the dogs to be rewarded for good behaviour on their walks etc but I always look at what I am buying for them as I like to buy treats that will benefit them both too – Ziggy is a young dog and Pepper is now classed as a senior dog both have different dietary needs to ensure that they both remain healthy.

Ziggy and Pepper were recently sent some treats from Pooch & Mutt to try,. The company sell a range of premium dog foods and treats. We were sent three different type of treats – Brain & Train, Health & Digestion and Move Easy.

Each tub of treats holds 150 bone shaped treats that are natural, ethical, low-calorie and gluten-free meaning they are suitable for dogs that have a sensitivity to certain ingredients. The treats are priced at £2.99 a tub.

The Brain & Train dog treats contain chicken, ginkgo biloba and coconut oil. Ginkgo biloba been cultivated in China for over 1,500 years and is traditionally used as a memory and concentration aid. These treats can be of benefit to dogs in training and elderly dogs.

The Move Easy dog treats contain chicken, linseed, rose hip (Rosa canina) and yucca. Linseed is a natural source of omega 3, which is essential for joint health. The reason why they contain Rose hip is that it’s high in antioxidants and vitamin C. Studies have also shown that the Rosa canina variety can be an effective way to maintain joint comfort. Did you know that Yucca was traditionally fed by Native Americans to their animals to aid joint function and mobility? No, neither did I.

The Digestion & Wind treats contain chicken, parsley, charcoal and chicory. Parsley has been used since the 4th century BC to aid digestion, especially in cases of bloating and flatulence. Charcoal was originally used in ancient Egypt. Charcoal works by absorbing foods that haven’t been properly digested, which can cause gas. Chicory is a natural prebiotic, which can help to regulate digestive bacteria. Now if you know my dogs you know that they both have a problem of the windy bottom kind – especially Ziggy. He has been known to clear a room before. After a few days of having a couple of these treats a day I can honestly say that we have seen a great improvement and although he is still a little windy it is nowhere near like it was before.

As you can see from the pictures above both Pepper and Ziggy enjoyed their treats. I like that the treats are packed full of healthy, natural ingredients and have health benefits for both dogs. I also love that they are small enough to put a handful of each in my pocket when we go out for a walk or play in the garden. They are both always rewarded for their good behaviour
