Life Finally Getting Back To Normal and I Think I Like It…

Last week I had my first Covid jab and the week before that Matthew had his. Had we known that they were going to be so close together we’d have both booked to go at the same time – there are 4 years between us so we expected the wait to be much longer but luckily for us our doctors seem to be great at sending their invites out. Our parents and close family members have already had their first and in some cases their second jabs too. This is great news for us all as it means we can finally start seeing each again regularly.

If you’re a regular reader you will already know that we don’t live close to my family and throughout the pandemic, we have only been able to visit them once. We are planning a visit very soon (my mum’s partner is awaiting an operation and has to isolate until after the procedure) and honestly, I’m not sure who is going to be more emotional me or my mum.

I’ve mentioned it in the last few months but I am also looking forward to being able to spend more time with my best friend who is pregnant with her first baby. She has been unable to have her vaccine due to her pregnancy so we will still be maintaining social distance measures and meeting up outside rather than inside until she is able to have her jab in the autumn. Normally we would see each other at least once a fortnight and she used to stay at our house regularly but all that stopped last year it will be lovely to make up for lost time and go shopping a lot.

According to the weather forecasts, we are due some better weather in the coming weeks and all I can say is that I should hope too so as we’re almost into the summer months – can you believe we are almost in June, the year is flying by at a crazy pace isn’t it? When I last spoke to my dad at the weekend we were comparing the weather and how abysmal it has been lately he then piped up with and I quote “well we’ve only a couple of weeks until the longest day then the darker nights start drawing in again” WTAH Dad! let us enjoy a little of the summer before we start talking about the days getting shorter at least.

Whilst the summer months are here I want to be able to wear some shorts and paddle in the sea, eat fish and chips and ice cream at every opportunity and although we’ve no plans for a holiday abroad this year I want to be able to enjoy my second wedding anniversary in July somewhere other than my own home and garden.

Now that the cinemas have reopened we have a list of movies we want to go and see including Maverick the sequel to Top Gun and my husband who is a huge Fast and the Furious fan is looking forward to seeing the latest instalment on the big screen when it’s released. I don’t know about you but when I used to go to the cinema pre lockdown I used to make a lot of effort in my appearance. I always used to wear a nice pair of jeans and heels – those days are long gone and I’m not sure I can even walk in heels anymore (put it this way should I need to wear them for a special occasion I may just have to practice in them around the house) so it will be my trusty ballet pumps or trainers with jeans, shorts (if its a nice day) or possibly even a co-ord set from Femmeluxe. They’re perfect to wear as a full outfit or you can mix and match them to make up other items. Their grey peplum set is perfect for this as you can wear the top with your jeans or jeggings and it’s a great comfy item that is perfect for a cinema or bowling date.

Have you made any plans to visit family or go somewhere you’ve not been for a while now that the restrictions are starting to ease? If so, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
