Our garden has never looked so beautiful. It seems like the grey and dull of winter has lasted forever. In the last few
I love to cook but I hate all the prep and cleaning. Luckily for me, Matthew has been home a lot more lately and he has been carrying out some of the prep and cleaning up chores. This means I get all the fun of actually cooking the meal without all the mess. We’ve been making kebabs, curries, stir-fry’s, roasts and lots of other meals that we’d normally buy already prepared or in jars / ready meals and the difference is astounding. They taste much better and are healthier as they have less sugar and processed foods/ingredients in them – from scratch is definitely the way to go. I have also been using a set of Taylor’s Eye Witness knives. These knives have blades made from Rose Gold Titanium plated blades and I have been using them when preparing vegetables, meat etc. I love my new kitchen addition, they look great, are very stylish and make easy work of food prep.
As I’ve had more time to myself in the kitchen I have been baking much more. This last week I have made cherry and chocolate flapjack, salted caramel cupcakes, chocolate orange cupcakes, cherry and chocolate cookies and gingerbread men. So if you’re lucky enough to visit when a fresh batch has been baked you’re in for a real treat. I might give banana bread and blueberry muffins a go next week.
Since Christmas, I have read a lot of books but my favourite by far has been Absolutely Smashing It by Kathryn Wallace. I abso-bloody-lutely loved it from start to finish. I have followed Kathryn’s blog I Know I Need to Stop Talking on Facebook and Instagram for a number of years now and her updates often leave me laughing out loud, so when I heard she was releasing a novel I couldn’t wait to read it and was delighted when I was chosen to read a copy. If you are familiar with Kathryn and her updates you will be familiar with her children Beth and Jamie and how amazing and unique they are. Although this book is a work of fiction us avid Facebook followers know where the inspiration came from for this story and I’m so pleased that some (a lot) of Beth and Jamie made it into the book. The story follows Gemma a single mum of two, who juggles parenting, working, dating and a new best friend. She seems to think she is failing whilst everyone else around her sees how amazing she actually is.
I think every mum on the planet who has ever done a school run can sympathise with both Gemma and Becky – I know I could identify really well with them at some points especially with the playground cliques and sports day competitiveness oh and getting children ready for school on a morning – we’re often the last ones through the gates too as my children are just as slow at getting ready – I assure you, you’re not alone in your struggles… I laughed a lot whilst reading this book and finished it within a few days as it was such a great read and I couldn’t put it down. I would love to read more about Gemma, Tom, Becky, Lovely John and their children so, please, please, please I.K.I.N.T.S.T write a follow-up in the future.
I thought that getting married in New York would mean that the planning would be easy – yes there is less to plan but that does not make it any easier. I have been so stressed especially about my dress. I thought I had a dress (or 3) but they didn’t fit or look that nice and I was so upset and frustrated. But I can finally say I have found my dress – THE DRESS!!!! I had a dress I won a few years ago but I decided that it was too big to take all the way to NYC (if you know of a charity who could use a beautiful ivory dress please get in touch) and the two dresses I subsequently bought looked ok but not right – I will still wear them in NYC but not for my wedding ceremony.
It has taken me a long, long time but I am finally starting to love me the way I am, I will never be a size 10 and I am coming to terms with that fact. I am now in my mid 30’s and the weight that has crept on over the last few years is staying fast. I am still exercising and eating
My hair is so long now it is crazy but this means nice hair on my wedding day doesn’t it? I have recently been sent a vented paddle hairbrush to try and I think it is really great. It helps untangle all my knots in no time. I’ve not tried it for anything other than brushing and putting my hair up in a ponytail but I can’t wait to see how it works when I use my hairdryer and straighteners at the weekend. I recently upgraded my GHD’s to the L’Oreal Steampod and they work so much better on my hair as I found that the GHD’s left my hair full of static and flyaway no matter what products I used.
Since turning 30 (a few years ago) my face has sprouted (there is no other word to describe this) hair like it’s a fashion accessory. I have tried many different ways to get rid of these pesky hairs but nothing has worked. A few weeks ago I was sent a Finishing Touch Flawless and I have to say that I am surprised with how well it has been at keeping my facial fuzz away – this is such a good thing what with my wedding in less than 12 weeks!!!! I love that the Touch Flawless is discreet and it leaves no redness or irritation so no one knows when or how often I’ve used it, it can be used at any time of day and even has a little light so you can ensure no hairs are missed.
