We live in a very difficult time. I love my life so much but there are plenty of people out there who feel like they have to struggle through each day instead of enjoying every moment. In fact, it’s pretty much impossible to enjoy every second of every day, which is what makes doing good so important.
There are plenty of different ways that we can improve a stranger’s day or help someone out and the best part is, you feel good for doing it! This post is designed to highlight just a few of the ways that you can make an impact on someone else’s life with small acts – I hope it inspires you to take a minute or two to help someone else. If we all put the effort in, we can make life even more incredible!
Random Acts of Kindness
The easiest and simplest way of making a difference and improve someone’s day is through random acts of kindness. Especially here in the UK, we are people who value politeness and small acts of courtesy, which is part of why random acts of kindness are extremely powerful. Little things like holding open a door for someone, helping them out with their shopping bags or offering to help with a fairly simple task means the world because you’re taking the time to ask; even if your offer is declined, the act of offering can drastically improve someone’s day and make them feel more positive.
There are countless different random acts of kindness, some of which you might do all the time, some which you might not do at all; regardless, making a conscious effort to do a few nice things per day can make you feel really good about yourself whilst helping people in the process.
Giving to a charity is a brilliant way of pushing your money further for the sake of others. With the current age of technology, it’s much easier to make a donation to charities and actually know where your money is going.
This is also a great way of making a difference in an area that really matters to you. It could be that your family is originally from a country which is struggling – there is bound to be a charity you can donate to which is helping in that area. On the other hand, it could be that you want to help fund research into curing a specific disease – there are plenty of scientific organisations that do this research and operate through the charity of others. It’s all about finding a charity which impacts something you care about; see here for a great example of some of the options available.
Local and International Volunteering
Volunteering is the ultimate way of giving your time to help an individual or a cause. Many organisations rely on volunteers to function correctly, with charity shops almost exclusively staffed by volunteers and many fundraising events or clubs operating only because there are volunteers involved.
We’re all living busy lives but even volunteering once a week can not only make you feel good but make a difference to others as well. You can see some of the different volunteering opportunities in your local area here or if you have the time and the money, you could even look at international volunteering options!
With any luck, this post will have given you some great ideas for how you can help others on a day-to-day basis. Simply taking a few minutes to do something extra is both fulfilling and beneficial for everyone involved. I hope this has inspired you!
