As a busy Mum to three crazy boys, girl’s nights have become a fond memory of my past. When I do get some time to myself, I usually favour a cosy night in my pyjamas with a chick-flick and a box of Milk Tray, rather than the boozy nights out I once enjoyed. All Mum’s deserve some ‘me time’ so I’ve put together my top tips for hosting the ultimate girly night in. Now, call the babysitter and round up your BFF’s for an evening of self-care!
Enjoying a treat without interference from tiny hands is a luxury once you become a parent. So, a night away from the little ones is the perfect opportunity to indulge in your favourite snacks. Whether it’s a tasty takeaway, your favourite chocolates, or all of the above!
No girl’s night in would be complete without a glass of fizz, or some DIY cocktails. You can get really creative with your favourite spirits to recreate classic cocktails, how about a fresh mojito, or a flirty porn-star martini using glam glitter jams? Or, you could pimp your prosecco with a little rose gold shimmer?
The movie playlist will set the tone for the evening, are you looking for a good laugh, a good cry, or maybe even a good scare? Whilst chick-flicks and rom-coms are girls night classics, there’s no harm in breaking the rules and opting for something with a little more substance, it that’s what you’re into.
Get your facemasks at the ready, because a child-free evening with the girls means only one thing – pamper session! You can get creative and make your own using random kitchen condiments, or for a less messy approach, sheet masks are great. Why not go all out and set up a nail station, so you can indulge in a mani/ pedi with your besties?
The most important part of girl’s night is that you relax, so slip into your comfiest pj’s and chill out. We all know motherhood can be stressful and unwinding from day to day life is essential for your sanity! Try and find the time once a month to focus on yourself, you’ll thank yourself for it later…
