This month has been a real mixed bag and we’re only halfway in. I wanted to do my May playlist post as it’s been a few weeks since my last and since then I’ve been busy in the garden, kitchen and decorating which means listening to lots of music. Here are some of the songs I’ve been listening (and singing very badly) to.
This Is Me
I saw The Greatest Showman for the first time last week. I loved it and will definitely be watching it again very soon. The boys are doing a school play at the end of the year and it will be based on the film so I’m sure this song will definitely be sung by everyone, parents included. It’s such a great feel-good song I love it, the lyrics really do speak volumes with me.
“When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen I make no apologies, this is me”.
Maybe, I’m Amazed – Jamie Dornan
If you’ve seen Fifty Shades Freed you know the song I mean. Not only is Mr Grey easy on the eyes but he can sing too. In the film he can be seen from afar singing out loud – something both his brother and sister say he has never done before much to Ana’s amazement. It’s just a shame that on the soundtrack the song isn’t full length – it’s literally the bit that he sang in the movie. He really needs to do a full version of the full song.
For You – Rita Ora & Liam Payne
Another song from Fifty Shades Freed that I can’t help but sing along to. I love it.
Defying Gravity – Idina Menzel
I love going to the theatre and I really don’t go often enough for one reason or another (anxiety is a real pain in the butt), mainly because Matthew won’t go with me and my best friends live so far away that we don’t get to meet up as often as we’d like. Wicked is one of the shows I’d love to see especially on Broadway when I go to New York next year. I’d also love to see The Lion King on Broadway or The West End – I bet it would be amazing.
Leave A Light On – Belinda Carlise
Such a cheesy song but I really don’t care, I love it. Belinda is playing our local racecourse next week after the races have finished. I’m still undecided if I’m going yet but I think she’d be great to see especially after seeing Banarama last year who were surprisingly good live.
Light Me Up – Tom Baxter
I first heard this song when it was played on this ITV montage of William and Kate’s Wedding. It is so beautiful and sums up the occasion perfectly. I may have or may not have shed a tear or two watching this – everyone loves a good wedding don’t they? and I can’t wait for the next big Royal Wedding this weekend.
Sealed With A Kiss – Jason Donovan
Ahhh, my first love, there isn’t much I can say about Jason other than that I still love him as much now as I did when I was four.
Hold Me In Your Arms – Rick Astley
Another cheesy tune but I love it and can’t help but sing along when it comes up on my shuffled playlist.
Perfect – Pink
I am a huge fan of Pink – I just love her and everything she stands for and believes in – she is a breath of fresh air when the celebrity world is so full of fake people. I hope she is going to release tour dates for here in the UK soon as I’d love to see her live. This song is one of my favourites and is just a reminder to everyone you are perfect just the way you are no matter what you do or what anyone else says. Learning to love yourself and positive self-belief is everything and once you have that you have everything. To my misunderstood boys “You are PERFECT to me”
Chandelier – Sia
This song was on last month’s playlist too. It is one of my all-time favourite songs and definitely one of my top five housework anthems.
Storm – SuRie
I love watching Eurovision – well I say watch I dip in and out until our entry is on and then the results are announced. Our song this year was brilliant and I’ve been singing it all week. This song actually sounds better when SuRie sings live, in my opinion, either way, it’s still the best song we’ve had in years.
Euphoria – Loreen
Another Eurovision entry but this was the winning entry back in 2012 (WOW where have the years gone). It is probably one of the best Eurovision winners ever – I love it.
What songs have you been listening to this month? If I don’t add a part two to my playlist I’ll be back in June with my updated playlist.
