I know I say this often but this year is really flying by, can you believe we are in May already? This also means that another school holiday is just around the corner – it’s hard to believe that we’ve just this next half term and then it’s a countdown until the big summer holidays after that! We always try to plan a day out with the boys each holiday – sometimes we manage more sometimes we don’t do anything – you know real life gets in the way or the weather is absolutely rubbish and there’s nothing better than staying in with a bag of sweets and a movie.
If you’re like us and you like a day out, here are a few places you could visit, I think I’ve included something for everyone and I’m sure My Three will be wanting to visit some of these in the next holidays and if not then certainly in the summer.
I would love to be able to take My Three to London for a short break. Whilst there I’d love to take them to a show in the West End and take them to some of the other attractions that our capital city has to offer. This is something that Matthew and I have said we will have to arrange for the last couple of years so we really must get around to organising it. I’d also love to take the boys back to Blackpool this year, it’s been a couple of years since we were last there but we had a great time at Madame Tussauds and on the Pleasure Beach. This time I’d love to take the boys to see the Blackpool Tower circus.
We have many beautiful beaches around our coastline. If you live close enough make sure you visit them and often. When I was little we always visited the beach and loved it. As I grew older I visited less and less and I have to admit I do miss being able to go for a walk or a paddle when the weather is nice. Almost every time we visit my parents we make the time to take the boys to the beach and we will definitely be trying to get there more this year.
A Track Day
Both Callum and James love fast cars – they certainly take after their dad. A few years ago we were lucky enough to go to the Goodwood Festival of Speed (we hope to go again this year or next) and both boys had an amazing day, as did we. I think a junior driving experience would be the perfect activity for them to take part in during the holidays. We are lucky that there’s a race track not too far away that offers track days for both adults and children.
A Theme Park
I am not a fan of big rides so visiting a theme park isn’t the thing for me at all. But I’m happy to go along with Matthew and the boys and hold their coats and belongs whilst they go on the rides. Our nearest theme park is an hour and a half away the others are even further so we don’t often go to places like this but every now and again they are fine especially when we have buy one get one free tickets from our cereal packets.
A Wildlife Park
We have a lovely wildlife park not so far away, we went a few years ago but would love to visit again especially in the summer as the last time we went it was a freezing cold day in March. We saw lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras and many many more. Wildlife parks can be a great place to visit and more often than not they support animal conservation so the money you spend there helps to keep endangered animals safe and well looked after.
Do you have any plans for the half term holidays? If so I’d love to hear about them in the comment section below.
