Like almost every other school age child in the country My Three are now on their summer holidays. I’m yet to hear them complaining about being bored but I guess it’s only a matter of time.
They’ve only been broken up from school a few days and already they have been busy playing board games and computer games especially as the weather hasn’t been so nice. James who is definitely the most creative out of the three boys has been very busy drawing lots of pictures with some BIC Kids products that we were recently sent.
I am a huge fan of BIC stationery and was relived when I saw that the quality of their kids range of products matches that of their other products. These product are made with little hands and people in mind – they are easy to wash out and the pencils are chew resistant – how great is that? The products we were sent are as follows:

Here is James creating his masterpiece…
James said his picture was of an elf trying to get to space with his dog… don’t you just love the imagination of an 8 year old.
If you have a budding Picasso at home why not encourage them to enter the BIC Kids and Mumsnet competition where they could be one of ten children to have their pieces of art displayed on a billboard nationwide.
Running from 17th July – 6th August, the nationwide competition is open to all 5-11 year olds. To enter, parents simply need to take a photo of their child’s drawing and upload it to the discussion page on the Mumsnet website by Sunday 6th August. Entries will then be judged by an expert panel. The winners will be notified before the billboards launch in September.
Illustrator and judge, Phil Corbett, has written some top drawing tips for kids looking to enter this year’s competition:
- Enjoy it! When you’re drawing it’s important that you don’t stress. Just have fun and don’t worry about making mistakes – it’s all part of the experience!
- Draw what you want to, not what you feel you should. Who says the sky needs to be blue? Colour it red, green or even purple with orange spots. You don’t have to be realistic – the most important thing is getting creative, finding your own style and running with it.
- Don’t ever worry about not being good enough. Everyone is different, and sees the world in their own way. The important thing is to grab a pen, follow your heart and draw whatever you want.
So what are you waiting for …. get them crayons and pencils out and get busy…. who knows one of those winners might just be your little one.
