When I was a little girl I dreamt of being a princess, living in a massive castle and being married to prince charming fast forward twenty (plus a few years) and I think it’s safe to say my Princess Diaries moment is never going to happen – Disney have a lot to answer for don’t you think?
My Three also have (many) dreams of their own – some of these are very achievable, some quite possibly achievable if they work hard at school and some that have no chance of ever happening (owning all the cars in the world – there is no chance of this James) – not in a million years obviously I’ve never told them that and have / will always encourage them to follow their dreams as who really knows what will happen in the future and with lots of hard work and determination I’m a great believer anything is achievable if you want something bad enough.
Callum has dreams of being a footballer – if you saw how he played you’d think that this is quite an unrealistic dream as he has very few coordination skills. However, he still loves to play with his mates and has even been a mascot for his favourite team twice so I’d say that’s his dream has already been half fulfilled.
Nathan, on the other hand, dreams of being a scientist and said he also wants to visit the moon when he’s older. The scientist part is probably easy for him as he loves science at school and is always the first to get stuck into the experiments he gets to do at school. But visiting the moon may just be out of reach but who knows what job he will decide on when he’s older and where it may take him.
James has many, many dreams and they change on a monthly basis. This month he wants to be an F1 driver – he’s a Lewis Hamilton fan (the less said about this in our house the better) but last month he wanted to be a policeman so he (and I quote) “can help people and lock up the bad guys”. Who knows what next months dream will be.
One way of helping your child to fulfil their dreams is by giving them energy filled treats. In our house, we love Peanut butter on toast and homemade peanut butter and choc chip cookies.
