You may remember that a couple of weeks ago I wrote about What Not To Do When Decorating and that I mentioned we were in the middle of a room makeover for the boys. Well, I can finally reveal that we have now completed the task – yes you heard right after months of stripping and waiting for holes in walls to be filled and smoothed out we have finally been able to hang the wallpaper.
A few months ago (far too many to actually mention) Graham and Brown asked us to take part in a room makeover challenge. We agreed to the challenge and boy what a challenge it turned out to be. We were asked to choose some wallpaper from their new Mix & Match range. We chose Graham and Brown’s Superstar Silver wallpaper (£14.99 a roll) and Superstar Blue wallpaper (£12.99 a roll). Blue is Nathan and James’ favourite colour so we thought that it would be nice to incorporate it into their new room colour scheme.
I enlisted the help of Matt’s brother to help me with the wallpapering – he is much taller than I am and is a whizz at all the tricky cutting and edging. We found that hanging the wallpaper was a fairly easy task. It helped that the pattern was really easy to match up and that the paper is “paste the wallpaper”. The hard bit for us really was getting the room ready as the walls were in such a bad state from when they were last stripped and decorated (pre-1991 – we found the evidence of whoever had put up the 4 / 5 layers of previous wallpaper).
We are so happy with our room makeover it has transformed the bedroom from a dingy dark brown room to a light and airy room that is most definitely right for two little boys.
