HelloFresh Review

Trying to create healthy meals that everyone will enjoy can be a really hard task – well I find it difficult anyway. I usually find that we end up eating the same few meals every week – it soon becomes very repetitive and boring even if they are meals that we all like to eat. A couple of weeks ago we were invited to trial HelloFresh for two weeks, we couldn’t wait to see what arrived on our doorstep.

If you’ve never heard of HelloFresh before, let me tell you a little about them. They are a recipe box delivery company, who make home-cooking easy by delivering fresh, top quality ingredients, measured to the exact gram with easy to follow and quick-to-make recipes direct to your door.

HelloFresh allows you to choose the size of your box and gives you the choice of three different box types – family, vegetarian or classic. The family box is full of ingredients to make meals for 2 adults and 2 children whereas the classic and vegetarian boxes are available for 2, 3 or 4 people. Once you have decided how many people each meal will feed you can then decide how many meals you want your box to include.

We received two family boxes (one for each week), each box contained enough fresh ingredients to make 4 meals. Everything was so fresh and anything that had to be eaten sooner was labelled clearly so that you could get the best out of your meals.

From our boxes we had all the correct ingredients to make Jamie Oliver’s Sausage Gnocchi with Broccoli and Tomato, Garlicky Courgette Chicken Gratin, Stir-Fried Chinese Chilli Beef, Beef and Chorizo Burgers with Red Onion Marmalade, Speedy Vietnamese Steak Stir Fry, Lebanese Lamb Wraps with Minted Tzatki, Pan Fried Pork Medallions and Chicken and Romanesco Pasta Bake. Each recipe is easy to follow as each box contains recipe cards that feature step by step instructions so even those who find cooking hard can make the recipes from scratch.

What I really liked about the HelloFresh meals is that each one takes less than an hour to prepare and cook – who wants to spend hours slaving over the hob when they’ve been at work all day? As all the meals are made from scratch with fresh ingredients you know that what you’re feeding your family food that is free from processed foods and ingredients.

Our favourite recipes from the boxes we tried, was the Vietnamese Stir-Fried Steak and the Chicken and Romanesco pasta bake. These are both recipes that we have eaten since and will continue to enjoy in the future.
