My Three and Me are officially on “Christmas Countdown” mode. We’re so excited there’s only 23 sleeps until Christmas Eve. One of my favourite Christmas activities is decorating the house and making it look festive. When I was little I loved our trips to see family, as on the way home we would see all the houses that had Christmas lights in their windows. It was magical and I still love it now when we take the boys to see our family.
The first thing that I do when decorating our house is to make sure that the lights all work from the previous year. I like to keep my window lights on the simple side and just have a couple of larger lights. This year we have two snowflakes and an LED Snowman light in our window. Our snowman is 41cm and is specially designed to fix to a wall or window. At the minute the lights are on offer for£9.99 instead of £12.99 from PK Green.
My Christmas Tree is my pride and joy I won’t lie. This year I am so happy with the end result. Most people probably think that it’s rather busy and has no organisation to it but I love that – a mix of traditional and new decorations, some that the boys have made, some that have been in our family since the boys were small and some beautiful decorations that are personalised to the boys from us.
Home Bargains is my go to bargain shop. They have a great range of good quality products at extremely low prices. I go to our local store at least once a week as it’s a great place to pick up a bargain. This year they have a huge range of decorations and Christmas products available. They have individual baubles for sale (from 99p each) and multipacks of baubles for sale for £2.99 for a pack of 20. They have a range of colours to suit any colour scheme. Other decorations such as stockings (£1.99) and plaques (79p) are also available. What I love about Home Bargains is that no two stores have exactly the same products. We are lucky and have 4 stores that are within driving distance from our house and all 4 have (although they all sell the same base stock) have different products within them.
I adore anything from the Disney Store. This year on my tree there’s a set of 6 baubles. They are part of the 2015 Sketchbook Ornament Collection. Each of the 6 baubles has an encapsulated glitter finish and I love that they have Character artwork on both sides – so that no matter which way they are facing you can always see the design on them. The 6 baubles feature Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto or Chip ‘n’ Dale. Each bauble hangs by a Satin ribbon bow with a hanging loop.
On top my tree is another Disney Store decoration – A Light Up Tinkerbell Star. It is the finishing touch that my tree has been missing out on for years. A few months a go I was shopping and I saw her and just knew that I had to buy her. She looks beautiful sitting on her star with her wings all light up too.
Every year I like to have a personalised bauble on the tree for the boys. I adore the Engraved Glass Christmas Wreath Bauble from GiftsOnline4U.com. For £15.99 you can have your bauble personalised with a message of your choice – Your message can have up to 71 characters over 5 lines and in a font of your choice. The bauble would makes for a lovely a present or to hang on your own tree. Each engraved Christmas bauble comes in a card box with foam insert to keep it safe from year to year.
Another addition to our Christmas tree this year comes in the form of Scentsicles (£5.99), ornaments to hang on your tree that smell like pine and other Christmas scents. Scentsicles are perfect for people who prefer an artificial tree but still want the unmistakable smell of Christmas. You can also stick them in your wreaths or Christmas baskets too. They blend in well with your tree decorations and can also be easily hidden if you dont want them on show. At the minute we have two Scentsicles in our tree but I think we will increase this as Christmas comes closer. There are a variety of Scentsicles available but my favourite is definitely the Cinnamon ones.
No Christmas tree is complete without addition of the chocolate decorations. This year our Tree has a Cadbury Christmas bauble hung on it, the bauble contains 4 individually wrapped bags of Cadbury Dairy Milk Snow Bites. They are perfect for sharing with friends and family.
No fireplace is properly decorated without a stocking or two (or 5 in our case) and fixing them in place can be something of a problem, In the past I have used sticky tape and Blu Tack and then hiding the tops of them with tinsel and bunting that was until I heard about Command General Purpose Hooks. These little gems a life saver and for £3.50 for a pack of 20 they are a bargain. They are perfect for getting creative with party lights, decorations and displays at home, in the office and in the classroom. They can be used to hang bunting, garlands and banners for a special celebration, or create an all-year-round feature. If you want to use the clips again for another occasion you just need to reattach them using replacement Command Strips. Command Decorating Clips can be applied to almost any flat, clean surface including wood, tile and paint, but aren’t suitable for use on wallpapered surfaces or for hanging antiques or valuable items.
