Tour De France Spectators Invited To Make History With Unique Film

Leeds spectators urged to share video footage captured on smartphones
The boys and I are really looking forward to the start of the Tour De France. We are so lucky to live only a few miles away from where the Grand Depart will take place. We are hoping the weather is kind as we are planning on going to see the start.
It’s only a matter of days before the world’s best cyclists start the Tour De France in Yorkshire, setting off from Leeds Town Hall and gliding through the countryside en route to Harrogate.
Tto mark the long-awaited event, cycling fans and local spectators are being urged to share their mobile phone videos to create a unique short film.
Online smartphone retailer Mobiles.co.uk is asking spectators to share their best mobile phone clips of the race as it travels from Leeds to Harrogate.
Whether they record the start of the race, funny costumes or the deafening cheers from the crowds, the best clips will make it into the film and create a lasting reminder of the event.
The best entry from each race stage will win a GoPro Hero3, while the overall winner will also receive a Sony Xperia Z2.
Entries are accepted via YouTube, Instagram and Vine, using the hashtag #TDFfilm. All entrants must include details of where the clip was filmed and which smartphone it was filmed on.
Jay Karsandas, Digital Manager at Mobiles.co.uk, said: “The Tour de France is a huge deal for the UK, in particular for those in Yorkshire who will see the action up close and really experience the atmosphereWe want to mark it by producing a powerful video of their experiences, sharing the best bits that people who weren’t there would like to have seen. Over 90 per cent of us now own a mobile phone* and no doubt take it everywhere with us, so this is the perfect opportunity to use them and create a lasting memory of those key moments.
The competition closes at midnight on Tuesday, 8th July. Good luck to anyone who enters. I have my eye on the main prize as I’m in need of a new phone.
