Valentine’s Day is only a few days away and although we’ve never been the type who spend lots of money on gifts for each other or go for romantic breaks/nights away we do like to have a quiet night in. We tend to buy each other little gifts here and there all through the year so we don’t spend a huge amount on gifts – our belief is that you don’t need one day to show your partner how much they mean to you. Having said that it is nice to spend Valentine’s Day together and spend it doing something that you both enjoy.
My idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day include the following:
A relaxing bath – Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to buy your loved one smellies so that they can pamper themselves. Baylis and Harding have many products that would make the perfect pamper gift and all at reasonable prices. This year I am loving their new Rose Prosecco range of gifts including the Treats for Feet Sock Set*, Body Treats Gift Set and the cute Prosecco Van gift set*.
Comfy nightwear – Once you’ve had you’re relaxing bath there is no better feeling than putting on clean pj’s and jumping into a freshly made bed. In my opinion, it is one of the best feelings in the world. I am loving the Jockey Lounge Chemise (available in sizes medium to 2 xl). For the man in your life, you may want to treat him to new underwear too – they can never have too many pants or socks, can they? Why not treat him to a Hugo Boss Socks and Trunks set*, which would make a great gift for Valentine’s Day.
Movies – Many of my friends have already booked their tickets to see Fifty Shades Freed, the final instalment of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. Personally, I’ll wait until the Bluray comes out so I can watch all three films together and enjoy them in the privacy of my own home. But if I was going to the cinema on Valentine’s Day I’d be sure to find a chick flick or comedy to watch. My idea of the perfect night in though is definitely having a movie marathon with the other half. There are some films that we each prefer to watch on our own or with our friends but we also have other films that we both love. This Valentine’s Day I think we will be having a Lucifer marathon on Amazon Prime or perhaps we might decide on something totally different depending on which films we are yet to scratch off of the 100 movies poster* from Prezzybox. To complete your movie theme night why not turn the lights down low and place a few candles around your room and snuggle up on the sofa with throws and your cosy cushions – perfect when the weather is still so cold and miserable outside, enjoy movie-themed snacks with the Movie Night In* set from Prezzybox which comprises a reusable popcorn box and two drink cups.
Snacks – A quiet movie night isn’t complete without snacks and what better snack than popcorn and chocolate. A Sweet Tree* is the perfect mix of Malteasers and Smarties and is just the right size to share with your loved one. Whilst watching TV you can both just pick away at the tree. If jelly sweets and popcorn are your prefered snacks you can always place them in heart-shaped sharing bowls (available from Wilko) to set the tone of the evening. You could treat your other half to a Handmade Gourmet Popcorn gift set*. It contains six different flavours – Caramel & Belgian Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Gin & Tonic, Toffee Apple & Cinnamon, Espresso Martini and Caramel and Peanut Butter. If you or your other half prefer your chocolate then a beautiful box of Jenny Wren Belgian Chocolates may be more your kind of treat.
Drinks – If you’re celebrating this Valentine’s Day then Champagne* will most definitely be on the cards. Aldi has a great selection available this year with prices starting from £5.99 a bottle. I am loving the His Lordship and Ladyship glasses set* from Findmeagift this year. They would make a great gift or the perfect glasses for you and your other half to use whilst having your romantic evening in.
