My Moving In Essentials

Whether you are moving for the first time or the 50th time I think there are some kitchen items that are must haves and every home should have them and if you already own them then you must have them to hand for the first couple of days whilst you unpack.

A Kettle - Along with the kids and pets this is the most important thing to keep to hand or buy if you don't have one. Whenever I have moved house after unloading all the boxes the first thing I did was make a proper cup of tea and it was well deserved after we had moved 80 miles and had been loading/unloading cars and vans all day.

A Toaster - If you want a quick snack after your move or don't want to unpack everything all at once having your toaster to hand will be a lifesaver - and making breakfast the morning after moving in will be so much easier if your toaster is sat on the worktop ready to be used.

A Microwave -  Now I know what you're thinking - a microwave oven isn't important nor is it an essential, but I would be lost without mine. Imagine moving from a house with a built in oven and hob to a house with no oven and hob or to a house that has no gas or electric connections so you need to either a buy a new cooker/oven or have the correct system installed if that's possible, or perhaps you just have to simply make an appointment you have your oven/cooker plumbed in correctly. This can take time and can't always be sorted as soon as you move in so why not use your microwave until you can get your cooker sorted.  To be honest, though the range of next generation combination microwaves are so much better than they used to be and we use ours on a regular basis at home. They are great for both convenient and healthy cooking. With options to grill, steam and bake, they not only cook all your food in half the time but preserve its delicious flavour, vitamins and nutrients thanks to a revolutionary Turbo Steam technology - who needs a normal oven anyway.

Crockery and Cutlery - These speak for themselves - if you want a cup of tea you need something to put it in and something to fish your tea bag out of your cup and if you're making a meal or plan to make a snack you need something to put it on and eat it with.

Food Essentials - Bread, milk, tea bags, coffee and local takeaway menus are must have items to hand for when you've moved everything to your new place. Chances are that you're going to be too tired to do much on your first night so a brew, something to eat and a chill out is definitely on the cards before the hard task of unpacking the next day starts.
