When I was younger one of the most exciting things about Christmas was counting down the days until Santa arrived. It’s still an exciting time in our house as My Three love the countdown too. A lot has changed since I was smaller though, especially the Advent calendars that are now available. When I was younger we had little choice other than a couple of different chocolate filled calendars to choose from. Now there is so much choice and so many different ones on offer. There are calendars for everyone both young and old and many that don’t contain chocolate but a little gift each day instead. Here are My Three and Me’s favourite advent calendars for 2015.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the nation’s favourite Cadbury
. Each advent calendar contains 90g of delicious chocolate. Everyday you get to open a window and enjoy a square of Cadbury Dairy Milk. Available to buy in stores nationwide with a RRP of £2.19
Children will love the Classic Lindt
Advent Calendar (£5.49). Every calendar contains 160g of chocolate. Every window is filled with the joys of Christmas, treats include a 40g milk chocolate Santa and Mini 10g Reindeer.
I adore the Lindt Teddy Advent Calendar (£10). It contains treats hidden behind each door and includes a full size 100g chocolate shaped Teddy waiting behind door 24 – a lovely treat on Christmas Eve.
New for 2015 is the luxurious Lindor Advent Calendar. It contains seven different Lindor truffles – Milk, Milk & White, White, Hazelnut, Coconut, Caramel and Strawberry & Cream. Available exclusively at Tesco for £10.
For those who like a little bit of Luxury for their Christmas countdown Godiva
offer an advent calender full of luxurious Belgian chocolates (RRP £23). Each day you get to open an window that contains a tasty chocolate treat.
Playmobil (£19.99) have a variety of advent calendars for sale this year. they are great for children who can’t eat chocolate – they can still enjoy the fun of advent and they get a great toy to play with over and over again. Our favourite is their Santa’s Workshop advent calendar. It contains twenty-four surprise items which include a Santa, two elves and an angel, reindeer with sleigh, gifts, toys, a wheelbarrow, and a basket.
LEGO fans young and old will love the Star Wars advent calendar. Each of the 24 doors contains either a Tatooine, Endor, Hoth, Space or Christmas-themed gift. The calendar features an exclusive festive C-3PO minifigure, five other minifigures, festive-themed Droids, Jabba’s Sail Barge, Sandcrawler, Star Destroyer, Millennium Falcon, AT-AT, A-wing Starfighter and a sleigh. The new LEGO Star Wars advent calendar is available nationwide at all retailers and has an RRP of £24.99
For girls who love LEGO. They can enjoy the fun of advent with the LEGO Friends (£19.99) advent calendar. You’ll find special winter sports equipment, fairground games and Christmas foods. You might even find some furry winter friends inside too. The calendar includes Andrea and Liza mini-doll figures. At the end of the 24 days you will have you’re very own Heartlake City Square winter scene.
My personal favourite advent calendar is the Yankee Candle Reindeer Carousel (£31.99). Each day there is a Tealight or Votive candle to be found in one of 8 seasonal scents. Fragrances include Bundle Up, Candy Cane Lane, Icicles, Spiced Orange, Snowflake Cookie,Winter Glow, Berry Trifle and Cosy By the Fire.
