My #SlimFastWorksForMe Challenge

A few months ago you may remember that I took part in  a two week long #SlimFastChallenge. Over the two week period I was asked to follow their 3.2.1 Plan. Recently I was again contacted by SlimFast and asked to try a new product along side their new 7 day starter kit. As I had a good result before I agreed to this new challenge and couldn’t wait to try the products again especially the new SlimFast Noodles. At the start of this new challenge I weighed 11st 6oz as I hadn’t lost any more weight since the last challenge. 

As before I was following the same plan – 3 snacks, 2 SlimFast products and one main meal a day. There are a wide range of products available in the SlimFast range, which gives you plenty of items to choose from so that you don’t get stuck in a rut eating the same foods day in day out. The starter kit that I was sent had enough products for a full 7 days. It contains six ready to drink shakes – Strawberry, Chocolate and Cafe Latte, eight meal bars – Summer Berry and Chocolate Crunch, seven Snack Bags – Cheddar Bites and Sour Cream & Chives Pretzels and  seven Snack Bars – Chocolate Caramel and Heavenly Chocolate Treat Bars..

I was looking forward to trying the new savoury SlimFast Noodle Boxes. I am a big fan of noodles as they are a quick and easy snack to prepare and they help fill a hole when you can’t be bothered to make much of an effort. Each box has less than 100 calories per serving. At the minute there are three different flavours to choose from Chicken Tikka Masala, Spaghetti Bolognaise and Spicy Thai Noodles. I love that the noodles can be eaten as a snack or as part of a larger meal. 

Below is a snippet of my food diary for the week that I took part in the challenge.
Day One:
  • Breakfast – Summer Strawberry Shake
  • Morning Snack – A banana
  • Lunch – Chocolate Crunch Meal Bar
  • Afternoon Snack – Sour Cream and Chives Pretzels
  • Tea – Chicken Salad
  • Evening Snack – Heavenly Chocolate Treat Bar
Day Two:
  • Breakfast – Summer Berry Meal Bar
  • Morning Snack – An Apple
  • Lunch – Spaghetti Bolognaise Noodle Pot
  • Afternoon Snack – Chedder Flavour Bites
  • Tea – Roast Beef Dinner
  • Evening Snack – Chocolate Caramel Treat Bar

Day Three:
  • Breakfast – Cafe Latte Shake
  • Morning Snack – Heavenly Chocolate Treat Bar
  • Lunch – Summer Berry Meal Bar
  • Afternoon Snack – Sour Cream and Chives Pretzels
  • Tea – Chicken breast and Spicy Thai Noodles
  • Evening Snack – Two Jaffa Cakes
As you can see I varied the products so that I wasn’t having the same flavour / product every day. This really helped as there is nothing worse than getting bored and fed up of eating the same stuff over and over again. If you are struggling to keep motivated the Starter Kit comes with a booklet that contains a 7 day meal guide that includes recipes for 7 main meals too. Since the last time I tried SlimFast there have been some improvements to their existing product range. They have reduced the sugar content by 30% in their powders and ready-to-drink shakes. They are currently working on reducing the amount of sugar in their meal replacement bars too. 

I am happy to report that after just a week of the #SlimFastWorksForMe Challenge I have lost a further 4lb and I now weigh in at 11st 2lb. I haven’t been able to exercise as much as I would like due to being full of cold but I am really happy with the weight loss this time around. My dream weight of 9st 6lb is getting closer – I WILL fit into my dream wedding dress (and with a provisional date of July / August of 2016 I really need to focus).
