Cake Angels Cake Decorations

Over this last half term in school Callum has been learning everything there is to know about chocolate. Yesterday he went to the Chocolate Museum in York and had a wonderful day. A few weeks ago he brought home a letter saying that each class member was to take part in a WOW project and had to create something made from chocolate or something that featured chocolate. Callum and his Auntie Kimberley decided that they were going to make a scrapbook featuring a chocolate bar called Carl and they set to work finding pictures that they could adapt to show all the celebrities Carl had met. So whilst those two got stuck into their scrapbook I decided to make a chocolate cake and lots of buns with the help from James. This also gave me the perfect excuse to use some of the lovely Cake Angels products that I had been sent.

I had been sent a variety of cake decorations including icing, sprinkles, marshmallows and candles. I couldn’t wait to get stuck in. The first thing I did was make up the cake mixture bake two cakes and 34 buns. Then came the fun bit – decorating.
To decorate the cake I used the tub of Vanilla Icing. I used some inside of the two cakes and then spread the remainder all over the outside of the cake. I decorated the cake with some white chocolate buttons. In between the buttons on the top I used some of the chocolate sprinkles. I used the heart shaped and chocolate spirals. I think these add the perfect touch to any cake. If you wanted to you could put the icing in a piping bag and use it to decorate cupcakes.
James and I made a mixture of plain and chocolate buns, we also made some of them butterfly buns. We used some of the chocolate sprinkles to decorate them but we also used some of the other decorations we were sent. Cake Angels have a massive range available to buy from as little as 99p and in Tesco at the moment they are on offer 3 items for the price of 2. There are decorations for all types of parties and celebrations. Of course you don’t need to make cakes or buns to enjoy these decorations you could use them to add a little treat to a bowl of ice cream or how about adding a few mini marshmallows to a cup of hot chocolate?
The best bit of making cakes and buns is getting to eat them – and I am pleased to report that they went down a storm.
