We have had our Boxer dog Pepper since she was 8 weeks old, she is now almost 6. She is very much one of the family and I’m pretty certain she thinks shes a human too. She has no allergies that we know of, is of good health and we would very much like to keep it that way. One way we can help is by ensuring that she eats a good diet. However this has caused problems in the past as she has always been a very fussy eater, so when we were asked to review Burns Original Chicken and Brown Rice dog food I was slightly apprehensive as to whether or not she would eat it.
Burns Original is hypo-allergenic, so it is suitable for dogs who are allergic to certain foods. It is made without ingredients such as wheat, soya, dairy, artificial colourings and artificial preservatives which are known to cause symptoms of food intolerance including itchy skin, digestive upset, excessive moulting, full anal glands and waxy ears – lets face it none of us pet owners want our furbabies to suffer especially when it could be sorted but simply changing the food that they eat.
You can purchase bags of food in 3 different sizes – 15kg, 7.5kg and 2kg. Prices start from £8.68 for a 2kg bag. We were sent a 7.5kg priced at £27.24. There are many different types of Burns food to suit different dogs needs and there is also different flavours too. Pepper weighs 28kg. She is on the large / heavy side for a Boxer bitch but has never been overweight, the pack guidelines said to feed a dog her size 200 – 300g a day. The one thing that I liked about the food is that the pieces were small and easy enough for Pepper to pick up and eat. It didn’t have a nasty odour too it like some dry foods do when they are first opened.
