My Thorntons Christmas Hero... My Mum xXx

Recently I was asked to take part in a Secret Santa with Thorntons. They asked me to choose someone who I thought deserved a special surprise. The one person who came straight to mind is my mum Pam.

The gift I chose for her is to say thank you and I guess in a way sorry. Our relationship was always good when I was young, she was the best mum anyone could ever ask for. She has always supported me, my sister and two brothers in whatever we have wanted to do. She was even there when Callum was born and was always on hand to help me with the sleepless nights whilst I was finishing off my degree. But when her and my dad's relationship broke down 7 years ago, it was hard for all of us and our whole relationship changed. Things happened and everyone moved on. My mum met a new partner and he wasn't the person for her and we fell out big time. We moved away and this at the time didn't help our relationship, it was very strained and tense. As time went on a lot of things were said on both sides that neither of us were proud of and we ended up not seeing or speaking to each other for over a year. The people who suffered most from this was the boys as they missed out on seeing their Nana. But we were too stubborn to see this until her new partner made us realise what had gone wrong and that it could be resolved and sorted if we both wanted. Of course this is what we wanted.

I love my mum I always have I am sad that we let something so stupid come between as we missed on a lot of things that we could have done together, we missed out of once in a life time celebrations that we can never do again. I am so pleased now though that our relationship is back on track and after eating a lot of humble pie on both sides its like the fallout never happened.

So mum I really hope that you enjoy your chocolates - they are to say sorry for being a horrible, stubborn spoilt brat at times but also to say thank you for everything you did and have done for me and the boys. Oh and they are also a thank in advance for when you'll be having the boys when Matthew and I go on honeymoon next year! xxx
