Meal Ideas With Boursin Light

The boys and I are huge cheese fans, in fact I think we have mentioned this before but that's because its true. We were asked to try the new Boursin Light and Boursin Minis a little while ago. Along with the samples we were sent some recipes to try but when I asked the boys if they would like to try some of these they said no as they included ingredients that we as a family don't like, they included things like mussels, squash and salmon. So we decided we would adapt some of our own meal ideas to incorporate the cheeses instead.

Boursin Light contains 78% less fat than Boursin original garlic & herbs, but has the same delicious taste and creamy, crumbly texture without the added calories, so if your like me and always watching what you eat you can still enjoy the soft cheese guilt-free.

I found that it tasted great spread over crackers and warm bread. You could use it as part of a main meal though and this is exactly what I did. We made a chicken and tomato pasta bake for tea last night, it is a really simple meal to make and has very little preparation time which when Matthew is working on the night shifts is a must in our house. I usually cheat and buy a pasta bake jar from the supermarket. To this I add the dried pasta, and then pop it in the oven for half an hour. Whilst this was cooking I cut up to medium chicken breasts and lightly fried them. Once the half an hour was up I added the cooked chicken to the pasta gave it a stir and then returned it to the oven for a further 25 minutes. When this time was up I added some of the Boursin Minis to the dish along with some grated Cheddar Cheese. I cut the Minis in half and put them evenly over the dish then covered them in the grated cheese. After this I returned the dish to the oven for 10 minutes so that the cheeses would melt. In total the meal takes about an hour and 20 minutes from start to finish. It looks, smells and tastes great.

You could even use Boursin minis to jazz up jacket potatoes with practically any filling. I particularly enjoyed mine with beans or coleslaw. They would also make the perfect accompaniment to a salad. In fact you could add them to almost anything where cheese or soft cheese is used in a savoury recipe.

Boursin Light, is available at Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado priced at £1.90 for 125g.
