Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Playset

Recently Callum was sent  the new Scooby Doo Mystery Machine play set  from Character Building to review. As he is a huge fan of Scooby Doo and the gang this product went down great with him. I must admit he was one of my favourites growing up too and I never grew bored of those pesky kids solving them mysteries over and over again. The boys don't believe me when I tell them that Scooby is almost as old as their Nanna.

When I first opened the box I have to admit to having a mini heart attack at seeing all the pieces. This is the first time I have ever attempted anything construction like with Callum as it is usually Daddy's "job" to lend the helping hand. Once I had a look through the instruction booklet with Callum I realised it wasn't as bad as I first feared as the instructions are clearly set out and it tells you exactly which pieces you need for the stage that you are at. Luckily for me Callum was also a natural at putting it together and needed very little help from me until near the end. The quality of the materials also helped greatly here too. They fitted well together and once constructed the Mystery Machine was very sturdy and could be played with too.

The play set is aimed at boys aged 5 and above. It contains 198 pieces. I thought it was quite time consuming to create the play set but then again this could be a sign of good value for money as it kept callum entertained for an hour and a half whilst he found the right bits and put them together.

The Mystery Machine Playset once constructed opens to reveal a control centre featuring spooky specimen jars and a monster radar. You can also make a leaf trap by reusing the bricks.

The play set also includes a Scooby Doo and Fred with his mystery motorbike that fits into the back of the van! You can buy other play sets and characters to go with the Mystery Machine too. This play set is available from all good toy retailers and priced around £19.99. Prices may vary depending on the store you choose to purchase it from.

Once the Mystery Machine was constructed the last finishing touch to be added was the stickers. Callum asked me to put these on for him as they were quite tricky for him to peel off and put in the right place.

We loved constructing the Mystery Machine and it is now being displayed in Callum's bedroom. Next time I see something that requires construction I will no longer be filled with dread and may just try to beat Daddy to helping create it.
